Garage Door Safety Tips

There are many things that can go wrong when using your garage door.  So please, follow the basic rules and safety tips when using your garage door.

A garage door is the largest moving object in the home.  The door system should be adjusted and maintained properly in order to function safely.

1.  Always check twice for any objects behind you when backing out!  Children especially, bikes, animals, etc.

2.  Check reverse safety sensors!  Ask us how!

3.  Wait for door to completely shut before driving off.  There might be someone waiting for you to leave, given the perfect opportunity to get inside your house!

4.  Lock interior door.  Don't rely on your garage door to keep people out!

5.  Do not leave remotes in vehicles overnight!  Thieves always break into vehicles taking this very useful tool.  Try the mini transmitter.

6.  If your garage door has windows, always remove the red emergency cord.  Release-Grabbing - when criminals disengage garage doors from the garage door openers by hooking and pulling (from outside the garage) the opener's emergency release-lever, or cord attached to it, and manually open the door. Thieves break windows and crawl in, using the cord to open door all the way, taking off with your large valuables.

7.  Keep corners clean of clutter or other objects of 3 foot tall or more.

8.  Open garage door before starting vehicles or other equipment.  CO can be very harmful or deadly without an open ventilation.
